“Dora’s Special Dream, aka DeDe, was a God send and landed in my lap by pure accident. I was not shopping for a horse when I bought her. When I saw DeDe and rode her I had to have her. She was started on barrels by a close friend of mine who was tragically killed. At that point I was really wanting to find a trainer that could finish her training and do it right. Most of all I wanted a trainer that I knew I could ride after and I wanted a trainer that would not push her more than she was ready. Otherwise, I want what is best for my horse and I wanted my horse for the long haul. I want my horses to have a definite whoa and turn and I don’t want to have to fight… I want to enjoy the ride. I talked to quite a few people I knew and they all recommended Kim Thomas. I was introduced to Kim one year at the BBR Finals and really liked the person she was.

Kim went on with DeDe, did some corrections on her. One thing I really love about Kim is that she lets the horse come into their own…she won’t’ push and terrorize your horse in the name of fame. Kim hauled DeDe, exhibitioned her in different pens, entered her into local shows, and then on to larger shows. Kim qualified DeDe for the WPRA Finals that year and even produced DeDe’s first pay check in the average.

I brought DeDe home after the WPRA Finals and began to ride her. I got to ride her in only two shows and my granddaughter’s good horse would be put out of commission for six months. Emily was devastated that Scout would not be able to compete for so long and was very concerned and afraid she would not have a horse to compete on for the Jose Reunion, Josey Jr. World, and the NBHA Youth World. Well, Emily was going to have to learn to ride DeDe! DeDe is a powerful runner and has different style than any horse we have competed on. It wasn’t easy to try and get with a new mount in a very short time. Thanks to the way Kim trains, Emily and DeDe are becoming quite a pair and did very well in all of her major shows.

Kim now has my second horse in training and will soon have my third. If I have my way, she will train all my barrel horses. Thank you, Kim for doing a great job and sending home a great horse.”

I just got Dylan & Tink’s picture from the Youth World and wanted to share. You did a great job with this one. ;-) Thank you so much! – Andre’ Marie Dohrn

Just placed 5th in 1D at the Mega Race in Jackson and is placing consistently “Thanks for making her what she is!” -Blaise, about Nikki

This is a really nice young talented mare. I have only had her for a few weeks. I rode her at her first rodeo which was Rodeo Houston. She took everything in stride just like an older horse. She is really broke and easy for me to ride. I just trusted her to go out there and work. The mare handled it great. I think it comes from her having a great start with all the basics and taking it slow. That gives me confidence to ask the mare for more and step her up to the next level. -PJ Burger
